Tooth Brushing Baby

These pictures are from last Saturday as well. We're trying to expose Gavin to brushing his teeth, so we decided to give him his toothbrush and see what he'd do with it. The wrong end went in the first time (I think a day or two before), but this we got some good shots of him "brushing" his teeth (really just chewing the bristles, but hey, it's a start!) We're going to try to make it a nightly thing so he gets used to the idea!

Snow Day!

This past Saturday there was a snow day at one of the local parks which, considering we live in sunny southern California, it's kind of a big deal because the kids don't see snow unless we drive a couple of hours to go to the mountains. Gavin was completely unaware that anything special was going on. He didn't even seem to notice that he was sitting on something cold. However, when I tried to have him some of the snow, he immediately pulled his hand away.

Flannel Explosion

Here is the rag quilt for my friend who's having a baby at the end of February before I sewed it together. I forgot to take a picture after it was sewed before I gave it to her!!

Suprise from Fudge!

So I was doing laundry last night and I left the laundry hamper in the kitchen and then my husband brought it to me with a little present inside.

Fudge has previously jumped out of the hamper without knocking it over, so I thought I'd try to get a video of it. It didn't quite work, but I caught the tail end of him knocking it over...

Little Giant

So, have I mentioned that our boy is tall? He's eight months old and I was looking in the size he's mostly been wearing, 12 months, and I didn't see anything I wanted him to wear. So, I opened up the 18 month drawer and pulled out an outfit. I put it on him, and it fits perfectly!!! He is a giant among babies his age... Oh, and I keep telling him to stop growing, but he won't listen!

It's Not Delivery, it's the Kitty.

I just thought that since the blog so far has been all about Gavin, that I would add in a cute picture about our cat, you know, so he won't feel left out. Here's Fudge about a year ago. Crazy cat.

Hide and Seek

This video is from December 30, but I thought it was cute. Somehow, Gavin managed to get underneath his little gym and was playing. Apparently his Dad said that it he even moved it quite a distance for a boy who's not even crawling yet. (Currently he rolls and drags himself by around by the arms, but no official "crawling" yet. So nice, because he can usually be found in the approximate place where I left him. When he starts crawling, it will be all over for me, I'm sure. I'll probably have to chase him all over the place then!)

Gavin's Life So Far in a Nutshell...

This blog is entitled, "My Daddy Talks Funny" because Gavin's Daddy has been speaking to him in Japanese since birth and we plan to send him to a Japanese preschool as well. We think he should have every advantage we can offer, and being bilingual is an advantage that I (Gavin's Mom) wish I had as well. He'll probably be the only little white boy at the preschool, so that will be a sight to see!

Now I'm going to try to sum up the past eight months in pictures and captions.

Here is Mom when she was 35 weeks pregnant.

Here is Gavin on his birthday in May 2007!

Here are all three of us at the hospital; we don't really look that great!!

Here is Gavin "tanning" under the billi lights--he had Jaundice.

Coming home from the hospital!

"Don't look at me! I'm sleeping!"

Mom giving Gavin his first bath at home!

Sleeping on Mom's chest.

Here is Gavin on his blessing day on June 24. Thanks, Eric, for taking the pictures!

Here Gavin is on the right when he was six weeks old with two four month old cousins. He is a tall boy!

Gavin's first Fourth of July, sitting on Grandma's lap.

"Helping" Mom with laundry. Cloth diapers to be exact.

Sleep good...

First time in the pool.

First time at the beach.

First time in the water at the beach. It was cold!!

First plane trip.

Happy first Halloween!

First trip to the zoo.

Gavin no want cereal!

Well, now that he's tried it...

The day before Thanksgiving, "helping" out at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Gavin on Santa's lap.

"Reading" the cereal box.

"Helping" mom wrap presents.

Merry first Christmas!!

"Kitty-vision"

"Using" the remote with Daddy and watching football!

Happy first New Year! Playing with the squirt bottle!

That pretty much brings us to today. I have started working on a rag quilt for a friend who is going to have a baby at the end of February and Gavin was "helping" with the measuring tape.
