"Bow" Track

Gavin told me he was making a "bow" track.  I think he was referring to the shape of a hair bow is all I can figure. I thought it was cute! I helped him complete it.  

Gavin had the idea of adding a roll of duct tape as a tunnel.  Clever!

Mischievous Cutie!

Colin now says Elmo!  Although, it sounds like he is saying, "elbow." He loves Elmo and Anpanman.

Silly baby!  I need to use scraps of fabric and an old wipes box to make him his own "wipes" container!

I already posted these pictures, but I had forgotten that there was a video with it...so here they are again!  He loves to help me pick tomatoes!

Anpanman

Colin LOVES Anpanman.  In the link on this page he is in the picture twice on the top left as a baby and top middle in the red outfit.  I think I have mentioned him in earlier posts, but it is has been a while.  He is a very popular character for children in Japanese animation.  He has a bread head with bean filling inside.  He goes and rescues people and sometimes even gives part of his head for people to eat if they need it.  It may sound creepy, but it's really not.  I have been having Gavin and Colin watch the two DVD's we have that teach the hiragana (the Japanese syllabary--somewhat equivalent to our alphabet) to the boys and Colin absolutely loves it--I think because it has quite a bit of music/singing in it and he sometimes sings one of the songs from it.

Playing the trains

From the title you may have thought that this entry would be about Gavin, but Colin likes to play with the trains now, too!  Glad to see it since we have so many!

Hide and Seek with Thomas!

The other day Gavin thought it would be fun to hide Thomas and then look for it.  In this picture he was asking where Thomas was and "looking" for him in the freezer. 

Thomas was in the refrigerator! Can you pick him out in the fridge?

Give up? Here is where he is circled in red! A little "tunnel" just the right size for Thomas!

Gavin's Track

Gavin loves to "make" tracks, but it's usually Philip or me doing all of the work.  I guess I put him off long enough this time that he made this square all by himself!  One side is a bit longer than the other, but it's still great!

The Train Museum

Gavin, of course, still loves his trains, so we visited the train museum again when were visiting his parents. 

Colin was interested in the trains a bit.  He didn't want to put weight on his feet, though!

He loves the trains in any way, shape, or form they come!

My boys!

Thomas was living near our house this Christmas!  We took a walk to see him!

Gavin likes this picture of Philip and me on our wedding day.  He was showing it to Colin!

I find Colin sleeping in odd positions sometimes.  Sometimes it's worse than this, he'll sometimes get his legs caught between the bars. 

The California State Railroad Museum

Grandma has a pass to the Railroad Museum! It was Gavin's dream come true! Thanks Grandma!





Got to sit in a train engineer's seat!





Philip thought that this was so cute. There is a voice that talks to you on these phones about trains and Gavin talked back!!!

There is a play area on the second floor as well that Gavin, of course, loved!





He also loved watching the trains running in the glass case.



Before we left we made a stop at the gift shop. We let Gavin choose from three things and he picked out a mug. Then we let him choose from three colors and he chose a blue one for himself, then pointed at the green one and said that one was for baby Colin! It was so sweet because Colin wasn't even there! He was at Grandma's house napping. I realized later that they had the same color mugs at home with their names on them in corresponding colors!



We also bought a train engine and red caboose to go with Gavin's name train at home that was a gift for his first birthday.



After we left the train museum Gavin was exhausted from running around excitedly that he took a drink and was out. Mission accomplished. We had a great time! Thanks again for getting us in, Grandma!

Uno!

When we were at Target picking up Colin's antibiotics prescription, I found a "My First Uno" game. Instead of being for ages 7+, it was for 3+ and they had a Thomas deck! The only differences are that the cards themselves are bigger, there are less cards, there are no skip or reverse cards, and there are characters on the cards so that they don't have to know their numbers-- they can match the characters.

I played with Gavin, but when Colin got up from his nap, he wanted him to play as well. So I put him in the Bumbo with the tray and it worked out wonderfully to hold the cards.

I thought that this shot was perfect! Colin's even looking at his cards!

I told Gavin that he needed to show Colin how to play. I love that Gavin wants to include Colin in most everything!

Playing Trains

Colin was in his exersaucer just staring at Gavin and smiling. So I told Gavin that Colin wanted to play with him. Gavin's response was, "Come on baby, let's play trains." It is so cute and always cracks me up when Gavin thinks that Colin can do everything he can. Gavin shared his Edward train with Colin and wanted him to run it on the tracks. I told Gavin to show Colin how to do it.

Gavin Boy

Gavin was babysat by his grandma the other day and she helped him build a track, then I added a little bit to it as well. Here is the finished product. It was so cute, I came home during nap time and went to get Gavin shortly afterward. He asked, "Where's my grandma?" when it was me who came in to get him.



I love the crazy sleeping positions we sometimes find him in.



Gavin has a thing for kitchen utensils, and especially spoons. He also LOVES to eat cereal, and will ask for it at most meals if I ask him what he wants to eat. Here he got the biggest spoon he could find in the drawer to eat with, it was a serving spoon. This morning he wanted cereal and I got out dishes for both of us, including spoons. He had already gotten one but I filled his bowl with cheerios, craisins, and milk with the spoon I had gotten him. He then told me he didn't want the spoon, so I took it. It had a piece of cereal stuck to it, and he said, he wanted the piece of cereal. Crazy kid, wants every last speck of his cereal.
