Outside

Since it has been pretty hot outside, I figure that just a onesie is pretty acceptable to play outside in. Yesterday, Gavin saw his shoes on the porch and insisted on wearing them. Then we found one of Jill's hair bows on the trampoline and I thought it would be funny to put in Gavin's hair. He's going to hate some of these pictures I have taken of him one day!

Gardening Update

My plants are growing, I just need to remember to water them more often now that the rain is over!

A couple of my tomato plants have blossoms!

All of my tomato plants

My peas, still searching for something to hold on to.

More peas. The plant on the lower left found an onion to hold on to!!!

My only lonely carrot.

My strawberries. Still no blossoms.

The obsession begins...

...with cars, trains, buses, trucks, pretty much anything with wheels or that goes. Here is Gavin finally interested in his Japanese train book. He has kind of become obsessed with cars. This afternoon we went out for a walk and he was good to go with two cars and his train book.

Big Baby

We have acquired some more hand me down baby things from a neighbor. I guess Gavin really thought that this looked like fun! He made it lean way back!

Hammer Toy

Gavin's Daddy has really been wanting to get him this hammer toy, and he finally found it. Gavin loves it!

Big Helper

Like I have said before, I love how willing Gavin is to help, even if it's really not saving me any work at this point!

Goofing Around

Last night Gavin thought it would be fun to play under the blanket at my feet. He was having so much fun.

Getting Comfy

Here was Gavin last night, trying to get comfy amongst the pillows and blankets he pulled down.

I thought he'd be more comfy with the pillow under his head, but he didn't seem to agree.

Kewpie Doll

Do you remember what Kewpie Dolls are? Last night in the tub Gavin was sporting the Kewpie Doll look. When I did a google search on images of Kewpie Dolls, there are many more (and older!) than I expected.

Just in case you don't know what I am talking about, here is the version of the Kewpie Doll I remember as a kid.

What do you think? Does he make a cute Kewpie Doll?

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Can you believe that we have been married 7 years today? Amazing how time flies! We went out to dinner on Saturday night to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. We ate filet mignon topped with shrimp, along with mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, and creamed spinach. For dessert we had fresh seasonal berries with sweet cream sauce, some sort of chocolate mousse(?) thing with berries, and also a creme brulee that was on the house for our anniversary. It was all so yummy!

Here are a few pictures from our wedding that I had saved to our computer.

Reorganization

Since Christmas I have been saying that I was going to rearrange Gavin's room so that his little kitchen in his room. Today I finally got the inkling to do it; I got in a cleaning mood: I get those every once in a while. I got the little shelf where the books and clock are from Philip's side of the bed. Hopefully he won't kill me since I had to clear off some clothes from it... I think it turned out pretty well.

Gavin playing with his cars on the rug we bought from Ikea. I think we've had it almost as long as I have been saying I was going to rearrange and clean his room. Now he can finally play in his own room! What a novel concept! Hopefully he'll enjoy it.

The shelf from our room. I think it works well.

The little kitchen fits just fine for now. We'll see if we have to move it again in time.

Little Helper

I moved Gavin's little kitchen to his bedroom and there was stuff that needed to be swept underneath. I was reorganizing Gavin's room so I didn't do it right away. Gavin went and got the broom and attempted to help me! He also helped me when I was moving his kitchen as well! I hope that he wants to help for a long time (but unfortunately I know it won't last through the teenage years.)

Look what I can do!

Gavin has been trying hard for the past week or so to dress himself with various articles of clothing. Today I watched him take his sock off and try to put them back on (which he has tried before without success), but today he actually managed to get them BOTH back on! Good job Gavin! Where has my baby gone?

ABCDEFG...

Philip was quite proud of what he and Gavin did with all of his ABC and number magnets...they managed to fit them all on the board!

Fun on Wheels "Spring Roll" Activity

I am now working with the kids at church and we do quarterly activities. This was our activity for the first quarter of the year (can you believe it's already almost 1/4 over? Time flies.) It was a family activity where everyone was supposed to bring bikes, skates, scotters, anything with wheels to enjoy together in the big part of the parking lot at church without having to worry about cars. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It was a big success.

Here is Aunt Jessica with Gavin on the skitter.

Gavin seemed to think that the bike ramps that were set up were a slide.

I'm a big kid now!

Is potty training getting closer?

The other day Gavin was dragging around his potty. I'm not sure if that means he's getting more interested in it and getting closer to potty training, or if he just thinks it's a cool thing and has no idea what it is. It doesn't really look like a regular toilet, so who knows? Yesterday he was trying to use it as a chip bowl which I wouldn't allow...that made him mad. Hee, hee, hee!

Building a Road

Just wanted to get a shot of Gavin's curls. I plan to get Gavin his first haircut for his 2nd birthday.
