Running!

The boys finished their marathon March challenge at Running Club, where we challenged them to run marathon distance (26.2 miles) during the month of March.  Both my boys succeeded in the challenge are are showing off their 26.2 tokens!

In January I paid my membership dues on our local running club after a two year long absence.  I have been enjoying interval workouts at one of the local high schools.  One of the other members sometimes takes pictures and caught me in action.

Yesterday, 6-4-15, I ran the fasted 10k I have ever done!  I have yet to run in a race, so maybe I could do faster?! I was excited. Below are my splits per km, but it comes out to an average of 8:33/mile. ;-)

Today 6-5-12, we had an "almost 5k" run! It was 2.83 miles and both boys successfully completed it!

They each earned a "running stars" token!!

Organizing around the house

We got the piano tuned on April 7, so that forced me to clean off the top of the piano.  Any flat surface in our house is fair game to become a catch all...constantly battling it!

April 17--My good friend, Dori, and I cleaned out the playroom in about 4 hours, including finally saying goodbye to the train table.  Thanks so much, friend!!!!

Now that the room is clean, they can actually use their desks...I bought new chairs for them to use! April 20

Gaviota Gavin

Gavin took Plants vs. Zombies fruit snacks and positioned them like he would in the game! March 12.

I found this on the morning of March 15.  So cute!! He was reading to his little brother!

March 16.  He wouldn't let me take a picture, so I took it of his key ring.  He reached 125 miles!

March 23: He got his first pair of glasses!  It's crazy that his prescription went from -.25 to -1.5 in just eight months!  We are now trying him on an eye drop that slows down the changing of the eye in 75% of patients.  Otherwise, the ophthalmologist says he is on the fast track to having a worse prescription than I did before LASIK. 

I let the boys run on the track after I finish my workout on Tuesday nights.  March 31.

Paint and Glaze Party Projects!

The boys went to a birthday party at Paint and Glaze where the they were able to pick a project and paint them.  Thanks so much Dori and Matthew!! I think the boys had a great time. 

They both did projects that went with their Japanese namesakes!  

Gavin Ryuhei りゅへい　龍平  (meaning peaceful dragon).

Colin Kojiro こじろう　小次郎  (meaning tiger and second son).

Gavin made 100 miles!

Both kids started running again this year with the running club at the school. The goal is for each child to make 100 miles by the end of the school year. Gavin, our seven year old who is in second grade, made 100 miles last Friday!!! Woohoo!!!

The five year old, Colin, who is currently in transitional kindergarten, made 75 miles the week before! Way to go boys!!!!

Japanese School New Years Potluck

Every January the Japanese School does a potluck to celebrate the new year.  

I thought this onigiri (rice ball) was too cute, I love ladybugs!

They were doing a traditional dance.  

Gavin did a dance with some of the other kids.

Weekend Fun and Projects

A couple of cute pictures from this week's gymnastics class!

Gavin made a わに (alligator) at Japanese school.  It was SO cute!

We made picture rails for the wall.  We used 2x2's, hangers, a chair rail, finishing nails, and stain to complete our project.  

Big helpers!!!

The before and after shots of where the picture rails will go.  In the after shots I tried to get creative with our clock and put what each number stands for on the clock.  Not sure if the kids even care.  I try anyway!

The boys watched a spin off of the British claymation show, "Shaun the Sheep" called "Timmy Time."

In that show they made trains using a box and decorations.  Of course the boys wanted to do it as well!!!

I got a new vacuum cleaner, yay!

I asked my 5-year-old (Gavin) if he wants another baby and he said yes. Then in a sing song voice he said, "I want to see how the baby comes out."
