At the park with cousins

I babysat two of the kids' cousins one afternoon.

Here the boys are having fun together.

Rosie wasn't quite sure of what to make of me watching her, she was whimpering unless I was holding her.  Colin was trying to comfort her.

Aww, so sweet!

Another Play Date!

Gavin has been having a great time having play dates with his cousin, Josh. On this particular one they played at the house and then we went off to a park, I think.

Josh gave Gavin a ride on the tricycle!

Then they each rode a tricycle. Jessica got this heavy duty large tricycle at one of the swaps we did at church. Gavin's legs are just a bit too short to be able to ride it, so I was so glad when his cousins gave him the red trike. Thanks again, he's still loving it!

Play Date @ the Nature Center

Gavin had a play date with his cousin at the local nature center and park. I think they had fun! I wanted to take them to story time as well, but I ran out of time. Maybe another time!

Looking at the map of the 1/4 mile paved loop we went on.

Looking at the displays and in the touch drawers.

Looking at the stuffed ducks. We can see mallards like that in our own neighborhood. I can sometimes even hear them quacking from our bedroom!

It's been fun doing play dates with you, Josh! Hope you have been having fun as well!

Playdate @ the park

We FINALLY got together with my friend and her two kids that are the same ages as my kids.

Here is Kaylee playing with Gavin. They have so much fun together!

Let's swing!

Here is Colin with Zackary. Zack is just five days older than Colin. Hopefully they will be good friends.

I love this picture. Their heads are tilted in the same direction and it looks like they could be looking at the same thing...

Rainy Day Fun

What to do when it's raining? You have to try to get creative. Thanks, Staci, for helping me with ideas! These are a few things that we did while the big storms where here.

Gavin and I danced to music. His dancing mostly includes jumping up and down, but here is another one of his dance moves:

I wanted to get more pictures of his moves, but the camera battery died. Here is what Colin was doing while we were dancing. I was trying to entertain him with the dancing.

Gavin wanted Colin to come "cook" with him in his kitchen. He won't wear the apron, but he wanted Colin to. He put it on Colin, then went to his play kitchen and said, "Come on baby. Come cook." So cute. He thinks that Colin can do everything he can.

I tried to get Gavin to do a pillow fight with me, but he didn't get it. He told me not to hit Gavin.

He had fun laying down on the pillows, though.

He also played with some of his cousins. They were having fun with Mr. Potato Head here.

Then they had a block fight with Colin's soft blocks. He understood what was going on here, and he loved it! I suspect it had a little to do with the fact that other kids were doing it. They always seem to learn better from kids rather than adults.

Preschool was canceled due to some flooding one day during the storms and so I needed to find entertainment for him during that time. I had Gavin's cousin, Josh, come over for a play date so they could have fun together when they couldn't go outside and his mom could get some stuff done for school as well. They did Play Doh, painting with water, played in the little kitchen, and just played with Gavin's toys. I think they had a good time together!

Play Date!

Gavin and I got together with his friend, Sam, and his mom, Janet at the park.

Sam loves to climb!

Gavin likes to swing for short periods of time, but Sam only wants to watch.

Playing ball together.

When I wasn't looking, Gavin somehow got himself up this all by himself. I was impressed.

Play Date

Our heater was out (got as low as 57 during the day, BRR!) and it was a rainy day, so we went over to play with Gavin's cousin, Brooke, at her house. Brooke wanted to hold Gavin (like when he was a baby) and he, surprisingly, let her. He kept moving his head to block her face during the pictures, though.

Play Date @ the Park

Yesterday Gavin had a play date at the park with a friend from church. They are so close in age, just about three weeks apart! Hopefully they'll become great friends. Gavin's friend is practically walking with just a little bit of assistance, but Gavin's just not there yet. All in good time. Apparently Gavin thinks that anyone standing is fair game, though, because he tried to pull up on his friend! Most of the time (when Gavin wasn't trying to grab his friend) it was just parallel play, but that's to be expected at this age.

Let me just grab your face, I promise it won't hurt...

You do your thing, I'll do mine.

He's practically walking on his own!!
