Breast Cancer Walk

We did the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer walk with Philip's work this past weekend.

The last breast cancer walk I did was so crowded there was really no point in trying to run, but this time we got more towards the front and so there was room for me to run with the stroller. It was SO dang HOT! I decided to just get it done!

Right before I took this picture Colin had been looking down at and feeling his belly. I thought it was cute. He is usually wearing at least a t-shirt or onesie.

Train pancakes!

I was feeling creative one evening and thought I would try to make train shaped pancakes! I used a train cookie cutter and the first time was an utter failure. The second time I saturated the cookie cutter in nonstick spray so when I turned it the pancake would release itself. Success!

Drinking from a sippy!

Lately if Colin is crying in bed it's one of two things that is the matter: he has either lost his pacifier or he is thirsty. This time he had been crying and I came in to find that he had solved his own problem, yay! Philip moved his mattress to the lowest setting, even though he is no where near being able to pull up. When I put him in the sitting position in his crib on the highest setting, his head surpassed the top of the crib rail. He is also rolling around on the floor more to get to toys he desires!

Philip found online a recipe for brownies which uses pumpkin in it! All it is is canned pumpkin and a chocolate devil's food boxed cake! The website he got it from is called hungry-girl. The above picture is of some of the mixture that fell to the floor, but we thought it looked like something a lot grosser than what it really was! I forgot to take "final" picture, but there is one on the website, along with the recipe and directions. They were actually pretty good, but they aren't my favorite Ghiradelli Brownies, but they are way better for you! Jessica said it would be good dessert for food storage.

Brothers at play!

My two cuties can play together somewhat now. It usually consists of Colin grabbing toys and Gavin taking them away, but they will get there, hopefully. I have Gavin give Colin toys in replacement for one that he has taken away because he doesn't want Colin to "eat" it. Gavin has several Thomases now and he plays with the newest one and lets Colin have the oldest (and most messed up) one.

Here is the giant Mr. Potato Head. He holds a whole family of potatoes that was a Christmas present last year.

Getting ready for school!

Gavin had a morning in the park with his new (and some old) friends from preschool. It was a get to know you session for the kids and parents. He got this beautiful apple cookie for coming (and no, Tami didn't make them herself, she said that they were so cute she had to buy them).

Kicking Back!

Our boys know how to relax! We hadn't move the crib down at all (still on the highest setting in this picture) because Colin didn't have any desire to crawl or sit up, and so he would kick on this soother in his crib with his feet. One of his favorite things to do in bed!

Eating!

Colin's favorite past time right now would have to be eating! I don't remember exactly why I took this picture, except for the fact that he had probably been doing his best to shove in the pancake! This past Sunday we gave Colin a whole waffle and he ate the whole thing--we didn't even cut it for him!



Most of the time when he has a pancake or something soft to eat, he tries to shove it all in. If he could talk, we think he'd be saying, "Get in my belly!"

During Colin's morning nap we were playing Uno! We played a couple of rounds and I shuffled the cards--doing a bridge. Then Gavin took a try at it...







I still think it's so cute and sweet (most of the time) when he wants to do what we are doing and he makes a valiant attempt at completing the task!

Playtime for Colin!

Colin is finally sitting up reliably--he has for a while, but I haven't written or posted about it. There are added joys for him at playtime, like this toy.

Broken tooth, oh my!

The best I can figure is that when I was nine and broke my front tooth on the corner of the counter top, it weakened the one below it on the bottom. Then when I was running one Saturday I fell (and did a somersault of sorts to land on my back) I slammed my teeth together just right... by Monday I noticed what felt like a hair around my tooth. I looked in the mirror and my bottom tooth had cracked! I made an appointment right away for the dentist and was seen the next day on Tuesday. They took an x-ray and were amazed it was still attached since the crack went all the way around my tooth. They told me to just wait and see what happened. Two days later, on Thursday, I was brushing my teeth and the broken part of my tooth fell off! (I was so relieved that the crack didn't go across the root!) I called the dentist right away, but they are closed on Fridays, so I had to wait until the following Monday to get it fixed. These pictures are both self portraits. I went all weekend with my tooth like this:

Not bad, eh? The dentist used bonding material to build it back up. He said it turned out looking better than he thought it would. I guess that's good? Anyway. Glad to have gotten it fixed!

Visit to Centennial Farm

Aunt Natalie had the wonderful idea to head down to Centennial Farm to see the animals. Thanks for inviting us, it was fun!



I had Colin strapped to me in the Snugli, so Aunt Natalie was nice enough to lift Gavin to see the llama, thanks!
