Happy Birthday, Colin!

I can't believe that it has already been a year since Colin was born, but it has! His well check isn't until November 9, so I'll post his stats, then. At one year old, Colin still isn't walking, not even crawling! He does get around, however, by rolling. He does occasionally get frustrated by not being able to reach something directly in front of him, but then he usually gives up quite quickly. This boy LOVES to eat! Sometimes we just keep giving him food and he never seems to stop taking it from us! One of his favorite games to play is peek-a-boo, but he also loves to sit at the Lego table and knock everything off of it into the pockets (I will have to take pictures). He also really loves to destroy railroad tracks (much to Gavin's dismay) and play with just about anything that's not meant to be a toy for a one year old, like the laptop cord or tube of diaper rash ointment. He is a sweet boy who is content with life and he finally cut his third tooth yesterday.

Happy Halloween!

We carved our pumpkin today to take to the church Halloween party pumpkin contest. I didn't expect to win anything, I just thought Gavin would like to carve one this year, and if I was going to do it, might as well show it to people.

Like their costumes?

PB&J, Yum!

I thought that I would try Colin on some since he was just a couple of days from his first birthday. He warmed right up to it! He ate the whole half sandwich!

Friendly Visitor

My friend, Sarah, visited form Oregon for a week. It was good to see her, as always. My kids weren't all that cooperative in the picture taking area, especially Gavin. Look closely and you can see that Colin was hanging on to her necklace!

The best picture, but it looks like Gavin's making a kissy-face or something!

Knott's Berry Farm Fun

We went to see grandpa and the trains at Knott's Berry Farm. This time they weren't running steam, but the rail bus called the Galloping Goose. I had heard my dad mention it before, but I had never seen it running.

I can't remember the exact details, but the front is all that remains of the original body, which was made from a car.

Surprisingly, Gavin gave Snoopy a big hug!

Fun on the fast race cars!

Gavin also did the Huff and Puff! Get tired!!!!

Gavin and I did the big rigs!

We also did the mine train.

Like all the spider webs? They are there for Halloween Haunt (and lots of ridiculously giant spiders as well).

Let Sleeping Daddies Lie!

Philip has been laying down with Gavin every once in a while at night. It seems to work like a charm to get Gavin to fall asleep, but I REFUSE to let him do it every night--I don't want Gavin to become dependent on it to fall asleep, so Philip told him that he will only lay down with him on Friday nights. Not only has he been laying down on the bed with Gavin, he's been falling asleep there as well!

Colin is so sweet, too!

I did it!

This is a little out of order, but I am still excited about it!

I ran my first half marathon yesterday! I did a little bit better than I expected. My goal was to finish without walking and I hoped for a time of 2 hours, 30 minutes.

My official time was 2 hours, 22 minutes. It makes my average mile time just under eleven minute miles (for 13.1 miles!).

I copied this chart from the race results site, but it didn't format correctly, but the info is there about what place I was in and stuff, if you are interested.

A friend of mine took pictures, I'll post them when I have access to them. :-Dalf Marathon

Silly Gavin!

Gavin has been squatting and sitting in the colander we have been using to keep the bath toys.

I think I am FINALLY caught up with my pictures for the blog! The first time in over a month, yay!

School in September!

Gavin has been going to school three days a week since the beginning of the month.

They did a farm animals theme as well as apples.

Apparently he likes to play with chickens on the farm. Gee, can't he do that in real life? ;-)

The teacher sometimes makes notes about progress or things that they like to do: this one says he likes to stamp and make fingerprints.

They have also been doing shapes and colors.

Gavin LOVES to string things! They told me his was the longest in the class and that stringing is a fine motor skill that some kids have trouble with (so yay to not having trouble with something!).

Big Helper!

One of the things Gavin likes to do in the morning now is brush hair. He really likes to do my hair, (but ouch--and he doesn't care if I have a ponytail in my hair...) so I had him go brush his brother's hair. I thought it was cute!

Ravioli, Yum!

We had spinach and cheese ravioli for dinner. It's one of Gavin's favorites, and bound to be one of Colin's favorites as well!

Here is the progression of messiness!

The classic messy look!

Gotta do videos of Colin!
