Park Fun

Today Philip had the day off and we were watching my friend's son. Gavin did pretty well playing with him and he even shared his tracks and train named Salty. Here we were at the park. Philip was playing catch with the boys using old tennis balls.

Another Reason He's a Big Boy

I was on the computer for a little while Gavin was eating. When I came back he'd poured himself some more cereal from the box! Then he was pointing at the milk (in the picture) asking for me to pour some more (look at how full it is!) I poured the tiniest bit and he was satisfied.

Gardening!

A little while back Jessica cleared out my dead tomato plants, thanks again! She had suggested that I could still try planting pumpkins for holiday pies, so I bought some seeds last week (with the guy at the store telling me they wouldn't be ready until December) and yesterday I finally planted them. It says to do six seeds in one hill and then make them six to eight feet apart. I believe it since I saw how wild some of Jessica's squash went! So, I put some in the end planter, then almost to the other end next to what is left of my strawberry plants (I have only two left now, out of six.) Jessica thought it would be good to try some sugar pumpkins, so I am. Hopefully they are as delicious as the the seed packet claims.

Gavin had fun at his tumbling class, as usual. I tried to mostly get him on things he hasn't done before because they will make for the most interesting pictures.

Mother/Daughter Campout

Gavin and I went to a mother/daughter cam pout last Friday night. Yes, I know he's a boy, but I helped plan it, so I thought I should come. My two main babysitters were there with their daughters, and my mom didn't get off work until around the time it started and I went early to help set up. So anyway, he came with me.

We had a potluck dinner, with lots of yummy food!

The kids did a craft using marshmallows, candy Dots, and toothpicks. They loved the Dots!



There were also games, including a water balloon toss, which is always fun!



Then there was a scavenger hunt/nature walk where the prize was a kit for making s'mores.



Yum, yum!



Then came the campfire.

Shaq sighting

I forgot to mention in my last post that while we were at Knott's Berry Farm we saw Shaquille O'Neal who was recognizable because he was this really tall black guy with all these people gathering around some of them were taking pictures. The blogger in me wanted to do it, too, but the rest of me said, no, leave him alone. I really felt sorry for him being surrounded like he was and having people take pictures and oogle him. He just seemed to be there to have fun with the little girl he was with (his daughter?) I'm sure he (and other celebrities) would just like to have a normal life like everyone else, but that's not possible for them...

Knott's Berry Farm

Today we went to Knott's Berry Farm with Uncle Lee, Aunt Staci, and the kids.

Here are the girls on the big train. We got the "air conditioned" car.





We watched the show at the saloon. It was cheesy, but fun.

We also got to see Grandpa again, and Gavin was sporting his oh-so-cute engineer's cap.





The girls rode the planes in Camp Snoopy. Gavin wasn't interested in them. Sage is in the front of the picture and you might be able to pick out Brooke in the background.

Sorry this picture is so dark, Lee and Libby didn't get to stop in the same spot so I couldn't get as good of a shot. It was also getting dark outside.

Two fisted drinker

Today we were in the car on our way to Knott's Berry Farm and we had handed Gavin both his water cup and a thermos full of milk. He started to take turns drinking from them, then he thought it might be a good idea to just drink them both at the same time!!! Eew, watery milk!

Pregnancy/Previa Update

I had my appointment with my doctor and the official results from the ultrasound. She said that I still have marginal previa, which means that the placenta is still covering the opening to the cervix a little bit. What this means for me and the baby: another ultrasound at 34 weeks to check to see if it has corrected itself. If it still hasn't, then I will have another one at 36 weeks. My doctor told me if it still hasn't gotten out of the way by then, it usually won't, so she will schedule me for a c-section at that time. I have kind of warmed up to the idea of a having one: no labor, picking birthdate, baby doesn't get cone head from being pushed out, but the recovery still doesn't sound like fun. A couple people who have had c-sections, though, tell me it's not that bad. We will see what happens. Only time will tell.

Colin

I haven't mentioned it before, but we are going to name our baby Colin. I was working hard to tell Gavin that his brother is in my tummy and that he is Colin this morning. I kept pointing to my belly and saying "Colin" or "brother." Gavin was kind of saying Colin a little bit, but then he took off his shorts and held up his shirt, pointed to his belly and said very clearly, "Colin." Apparently he thought that I was trying to teach him what his tummy was called!

Updates

Added a short story about Gavin when we were in the grocery store on Saturday to the Grocery Shopping post. I also added a couple of cute things that Gavin does to the Little Ham Boy entry from last month if anyone is interested.

Swimming Fun!

Even though we have a pool in the backyard, we thought it would be fun to go to this lady's house at church who is very generous with the use of her pool. She has a cave and a water slide that the older kids just love! Gavin didn't use either feature, but if we happen to go there again, I'm sure he'll warm up the idea.
