More Park Fun!

We had a spontaneous trip to the park this morning with another of Gavin's friends!

We saw a family of ducks! There were about 10 ducklings.



Watching some of the big ducks. A few bigger kids had been feeding them, so they were gathered around.



This duck was still looking for a handout!!!

Gavin wanted to wait for the kids to come down the slide, (like this dad); he was even calling up the slide!

At the Park

The park has been a major place in our lives this summer. It's a different, safe place for Gavin to play. He gets bored in the backyard when it's just him out there and wants me to play with him!

Here is Gavin and his friend, Matthew, along with Matthew's big brother, all playing in the sand.

I also have a cute story about Gavin and sleeping. We were on the couch and Gavin got one of his blankets down and was playing with it and covered himself, saying, "Night, night." Then he covered me with it and I pretended to be asleep. He took his hand and he rubbed me gently like I try to do when he is falling asleep or asleep!!! So cute! Then, of course, he ripped the blanket off of me!!!

Projects Update

It's been a while since I've written anything about any of my projects but the garden, so I thought I'd write a little about them.

I now have all the fabric for and have started ripping the squares for baby #2's rag quilt. The trains on the far right of the picture will be the back and the rest will comprise the front of the quilt. I also have white for a middle layer to make it a thicker quilt.



Still working a bit on the cross stitched afghan, but it's slow in coming with all the other things I have to occupy my time. Since you probably don't remember, the last picture of it everything was the same, but there was no Care Bear at all. That's my new addition to it.



All of the sudden my strawberry plants are producing a bunch! They are still mostly tiny, but are packed with flavor.



My tomato plants are still producing, but slowing down; they are dying off...

Swim Party!

Tonight we had a swim party for the kids and their families at church. We had hot dogs, chips, and watermelon to eat, plus a lot of swimming and water fun! A lot of the pictures I took were group shots of the pool, so I'm only putting a few up.









Philip couldn't make it to the swim party, so since I couldn't take my camera into the pool with Gavin and me, here are the only two pictures I took of Gavin. Aunt Staci was nice enough to feed Gavin snacks to keep him out of the pool. I wanted to keep him out as long as possible because I knew I would get stuck in there with him. Sorry Aunt Staci, I know you weren't ready for this picture!



Gavin eating a hot dog. You'd probably never guess how many he ate. He ate one with almost a whole bun, then he ate another while we were sitting by the food, then he pointed to that big plate of hot dogs and ate a third!!! THREE HOT DOGS! Can you believe it?!



We finally did go in the pool and Gavin loved it. He had finally gotten his fill, though, and actually asked to get out of the pool. He even signed "all done" to make sure his point got across to me (he doesn't sign very often anymore).

Stow Away

Philip was getting ready to go away on a business trip and Gavin thought it would be fun to try and fit himself in his suitcase!







Shortly after I put the camera down, of course Gavin was pretty much able to get himself all the way in, but we were unprepared to take a picture!

Thomas' Roller Coaster

I guess Gavin got more than just trains out of going to Knott's Berry Farm the past couple of times. He made Thomas a roller coaster to ride on!

Also, now sometimes when he plays with Thomas, he'll shout out what sounds like, "All aboard!" Which we think he may have heard at Knott's Berry Farm while on the train as well.

Feeding Cars!

Gavin likes to feed his toys, several times he has tried to feed Thomas or give him a drink from his water. I guess they are like his babies, since he's not really interested in baby dolls. Philip caught him on camera feeding his cars this time!

Sneaky, sneaky

The other day I while I was sweeping the hallway, I thought that I would check out what Gavin had stowed away in one of his hiding spots. It had been a long time since I'd checked there; look at all I found in it! I had been wondering what happened to that shoe!!!!

Busy Morning...

...riding the trains and other fun things as well!

Grandpa took Gavin into the cab of the train!



Showed him the fire, too.





We then rode the train and here Gavin is with one of the train robbers, trying to get as far away as possible...



Then we rode the Calico Mine Train. Gavin looks like he's thinking, "Please mom, do you have to do that?"



Then we rode the stage coach.







After that was the carousel for the first time!



Here Gavin is watching Grandpa and "Little Toot" pull up to the station.



"Hi!"



Gavin got to sit with Grandpa on this small engine, too!





Our next stop was the ferris wheel! At first I thought he was going to be afraid, but he was okay. I think it was the sudden stops while they were loading passengers that really scared him.





Our last stop before heading out were the little trucks that the kids can "drive." They each have their own steering wheel and horn, no matter what seat they are sitting in!
