In my Garden

I went out to water my tomatoes this morning and saw that I had quite a few ripe or almost ripe. So, I came out a little while later to pick tomatoes. I had noticed that part of the chicken wire had been bending down, so I tried to lift the plant and fix it. Then I noticed this:

A chicken or two decided to nest in my garden!!! I guess it's a nice shady place. The chicken wire obviously has no meaning to them...hahaha!

Happy Birthday to me!

I forgot that today was even my birthday, so I mopped the floors this morning. Gavin was "helping" as well. I know one of these days he really will be help for me, that will be nice!

Gavin can definitely climb onto our bed, although I have yet to see him do it. I think for now I may need to keep our bedroom door closed to prevent him from getting on, playing around, and falling off and hurting himself.

Swimming Time!

It doesn't take more than family, and not even the whole family at that, to have a party!

My belly's really beginning to pop!

Still loving his floaty thing!

After a dip in the pool, Gavin loves to lay down under a nice warm blanket and watch a movie.

His favorite movie, cars, of course!

Snack time with the cat

The other day I was in the kitchen putting away dishes and Gavin took the cat food and started walking around calling for him. He got really quiet so I went to look for him. He'd found the cat, all right! He joined him on our bed, tried to feed him his food, but then decided to have a snack for himself!!!

20 weeks

Today makes me at 21 weeks, so I just barely past the half way point of this pregnancy. Everyone keeps asking me if we are going to try for a girl since we are having a boy, and my response to that is, you are talking to the woman who is only half way through her pregnancy. Talk to me again sometime after I'm done with this one, probably when this one is a year old at least!

Me at about 20 weeks with this pregnancy (green), and 19 weeks with Gavin (red).

First Beach of the Summer

Last Saturday we went to the beach for the first time this summer. It was fairly cool and even a little bit drizzly in the morning, but we ventured out anyway. We went with my sister-in-law, her husband, his sister, his nephew, and five of Gavin's cousins.

Even though a couple of us wore our sweatshirts and jackets the whole time (Gavin, me, and one of his cousins), most of the kids and even a couple of adults went into the water!

They brought along a this canopy to shelter us from any rain...since there was really no sun until it was time to leave.

Gavin wandered around a bunch, I'd keep an eye on him until he got too far, then call him back or go get him. He loves the water, but didn't even ask to go. Not sure if it's because he was cold, or if it was because I didn't try to take him in the water at all.

Trying to fly the kite.

Not sure what he's doing. Looks almost like he's trying to eat the sand.

Two in a chair loving to eat the chips!

"Hi!"

Flying the kite!

Playing ball!

Playing in the sand!

Playing badminton!

Sand castles!

What's he thinking?

Sometimes I really wish I could tell what he's thinking. That's the cat scratcher around his arm that he took from the doorknob.

Messy Hands

The other day, Gavin was eating something messy and he held up his hands because he hates having them messy. He also made this face, which I thought was funny. I even went to get the camera and I came back and he made the pose for me again for me to take the picture. It was as if he knew what I wanted him to do. What a ham!

New Books

I am a sucker for books a lot of the time and I am always looking for something quiet for Gavin to do at church. So, I found these at Costco, I thought that the cars washable and reusable coloring book was really cool. I don't think that he's ready for the markers, but he likes to look at the books anyway, even though they have no color.

The computer thinks it's smarter than me again...sorry that these pictures are turned.

I had to buy this one. Can you guess why?

Eating like a watermelon!

Last week I bought watermelon and some other fruit from the store and Gavin and I have been eating it. We had watermelon along with a bagel and cream cheese that we split for snack the other day. I had cut the watermelon up into little bits for less messy eating, but then he ate his bagel like a slice of watermelon! I thought that was great! He also sometimes eats apple slices like watermelons, since he isn't a big fan of the peel!

Tomatoes, yum!

I finally got my first ripe tomato from my vines! It wasn't as large as I expected, but that is okay! Yesterday Jon found another ripe one and today I picked off some more ripe tomatoes along with a bunch of orangish ones as well. Gavin and I had our home grown tomatoes with our lunch today; he ate them, too, I was SO glad to see. I'm going to need help eating them (since Philip is no help) and I will probably juice a bunch as well. If a lot of them come ripe at the same time Jessica and I are going to have a juicing party with our birthday present from her parents--it's a juicer attachment for the Kitchen Aid mixer. I get the best of both worlds from it. I get to use it anytime I want, but she's storing it, thanks Jessica!

Track Designer

Gavin got out his train tracks the other morning and attempted to put it together.

After he had tried for a while and didn't have it together the way it's supposed to go, I helped him put it in the regular oval design. But, when I left Gavin to do his own thing with the tracks, he came up with some interesting designs (most of them more or less straight, and none of them connecting together, but hey, it's a start).

Sorry some of these are blurry, I couldn't tell that at the time I took them on the small screen.

I am so glad that he is using his creativity and imagination and he's not limiting himself to the regular oval shaped track. These designs are much more interesting, I think!
