More Colin Pics

You have to take lots of pictures since they are only little once and they grow and change so fast!





Gavin wanted to get in on the action.











He was doing his "gentle" touch, which actually is gentle.



"Cheese!" I didn't remember that he poked his brother in the eye until I was getting ready to post pictures! The first thing Gavin said when he saw his brother for the first time was "Eye," as he pointed to them.



I had just given Colin a bath, I love the "chick fuzz" looking hair that they have when it's first washed.

Must have sleep... & One Week Dr.'s Appt.

The most common picture for the newborn is probably the sleeping shot, so here are some more! I just wish I could be as well rested as he is. I think the toughest part of being a parent of a newborn is the interrupted sleep. I probably haven't gotten more than three hours in a row (maybe four, like one time) in the past couple of weeks...

Colin had his one week appointment at the pediatrician. He has obviously been eating well because he had gained back his birth weight and then some in just one week! He was at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, where his birth weight was 7 pounds, 3 ounces. The doctor that saw him thought that he was doing so well that he didn't need to come back until he is two months old.

In the bassinet in the living room, using the rag quilt I made him.





"No more pictures, please!"

Feeding the Ducks with Daddy

Gavin has been able to spend more time with Philip since he has been off work. The two of them took old bread and cookies to feed to the ducks. As you can see, there were a lot of them!



Even the pigeons wanted to get some of the action!!!

1st Bath @ Home

He got a bath at the hospital from the nurses (childbirth is messy and would have been gross to leave him that way), but this was his first at home and unlike with Gavin, Philip was willing to do it. He was so nervous when Gavin was a newborn since they seem so fragile (they are pretty tough, though, I think).



So not happy about this whole proposition. His umbilical cord hadn't fallen off yet, so we needed to still do a sponge bath.

...again. He does a lot of that, thankfully!

Cute Gavin Stories

Gavin has created his own contraction for the words, "get up." When he wants us to get up, he says, "Gup."

When it's time to clean up his toys we will tell him, "It's time to clean up," he'll say, "Clean away," instead of saying clean up or put away.

Gavin had just had a bath and he didn't have any clothes on yet. He was feeling his chest and he then he grabbed both of his nipples and pulled them out, he did this several times.

It was Gavin's turn to bring something to school for sharing time. The teacher requests that the child only brings one thing to share when it is their turn, so I had Gavin pick out what he wanted to bring. He picked from a few things, the two I remember were a magnet book and a mirror book. I had him put the magnet book in the bag to take to school. I finished getting his things together, then we went outside to wait for Aunt Staci to come. When we got settled outside he wanted to take the book out of the share bag, and low and behold he had stashed away a second thing in the bag, the mirror book, when I wasn't looking!

Gavin got a hold of my keys (which I usually don't let him play with, I have an intelligent key on there which would be really expensive to replace) and he took the intelligent key (which is oblong in shape) and started moving it around on the floor as if it were a car.

We found out that Gavin loves to eat oatmeal, we were in Costco and they were giving out samples and he started to cry because I wouldn't give it to him because it was so hot. He couldn't understand why I wouldn't give it to him (even though he does understand the word hot). He usually eats a whole bowl at home and asks for more. It's second only to pancakes. Breakfast seems to be his favorite meal of the day.

Every screen an Iphone. Gavin loves to play with Daddy's phone, particularly the drawing application that lets you shake the phone like an etch-a-sketch to reset the image. He grabbed Mommy's phone and kept asking "shake? shake?" to reset the screen. He has also figured out that sweeping your finger switches the screen or image. He has also tried it on Mom's phone, the laptop and the TV.

Tiny One & Sweet Older Brother

It's always fun to take pictures of the tiny one in the house. They don't stay small very long! It's amazing how fast they grow.

We were talking about Colin drinking my milk and Gavin went to go get his milk cup from the fridge...



Gavin is loving his little brother so far.







He wants to help with his little brother and loves to hug and kiss him!

1st Doctor's Appointment

Colin had a doctor's appointment when he was two days old, he had gone from 7lbs, 3oz to 6lbs, 10oz. For those of you that don't know, all babies lose weight just after they are born.

Gavin wanted to rock his brother in the car seat after his appointment. What a sweet boy!

Homecoming Day for Colin

Gavin and Philip came to visit us at the hospital and here is one of the pictures he took of Colin on day #2 of life.



Here is Gavin playing at home while Philip stayed with him. They held me in the hospital until after the baby was 24 hours old, so I couldn't come home until the evening that day.



Here I am in the wheel chair with Colin leaving the hospital, yay! It was nice to get to go home because I needed some real sleep. I did not sleep very well at all in the hospital!!!

Happy Birthday, Colin!

Welcome to the world, baby Colin!

After having my water break at 8:15 in the morning while I sat on the floor and played with Gavin, I called Aunt Staci to come pick up Gavin early for preschool, called Daddy to come home (who was only about half way to work), took a shower and we checked into the hospital about an hour later. I was having contractions, but they were very mild and low on my pain scale (and I am a believer in the epidural, so yeah). I got oxytocin at about 11:00 since my contractions were getting irregular and not much stronger. By 2:30 I had an epidural and just two hours later I went from being dilated to 4 cm after the epidural to 10 cm. We waited for the doctor to get there, the nurses almost delivered him themselves because he was ready to come!!!

Colin was born October 29, 2009 @ 5:17 pm. He was 7 lbs, 3 oz, and 20 1/2 inches long.
