Homemade "Lantern"
In a homemade "tent." Gavin took the insides out of Colin's glowworm and went under a blanket and pushed the button for lights and music. I thought it was cute.
Happy Belated Birthday, Philip!
Several days before Philip's birthday (probably five or so) I ordered a present for his birthday, as well as a Father's Day gift. They were two different picture products that came from separate facilities. Wouldn't you know it, the Father's Day present got here, but not his birthday present! It eventually came, and I hope he thought it was worth the wait.
It started off as a 5 x 7 picture and now the cutout can sit on Philip's desk at work. Isn't it cool? I thought so. Gavin was so excited about the present. He helped me wrap it and gave it to him.

I was so excited to get my first Mother's Day handmade card and present from Gavin this year that he made at preschool.
He brought home a plant: grass that he had planted and watered himself, along with a beautiful butterfly stake in the grass, and an oh so tasty cupcake (that he wanted to eat, but Aunt Staci kept telling him was for me, so I shared it with him after lunch).
The card says, "Hands Down"
"You're the Best Mom Around." Isn't it cute?

Play Date @ the Nature Center
Gavin had a play date with his cousin at the local nature center and park. I think they had fun! I wanted to take them to story time as well, but I ran out of time. Maybe another time!
Looking at the map of the 1/4 mile paved loop we went on.
Looking at the displays and in the touch drawers.
Looking at the stuffed ducks. We can see mallards like that in our own neighborhood. I can sometimes even hear them quacking from our bedroom!
It's been fun doing play dates with you, Josh! Hope you have been having fun as well!

Stall, stall, STALL!
As far as I know, no kid wants to go to bed. Gavin knows how to stall with the best of them. He asks for more books, asks for more trains, asks for water, he even asks to go on the potty (which is the best stall of all since we WANT him to go on the potty!). This particular night he went out to get trains, or so we thought. I came out to find him "mopping" with the Swiffer that I had taken out a piece to make it his size.
Sure, now he wears his St. Patrick's Day hat, when it's way past time, as long as he can stay up late!

Cute Gavin Stories and Gavinisms
GO AKA!
We have been watching Netflix on demand via wireless internet and the Wii. Sometimes the wireless connection is bad and then the show will pause and a red bar will appear with the progress in retrieving the show. One day when this happened, Gavin said, "Go aka (red) go!" He wanted his show to come back on!
SNAKE!
We saw a worm on the porch one day when we were coming in from church. Gavin called it a snake and we told him, no, it was a worm. I then proceeded to show him that you could touch it and he screamed and pushed me away from it. Philip thought it was so cute that he was protecting me from the "snake."
SPIDERS
Gavin calls scratches and scabs "spiders." Not sure why other than the fact that they may resemble spiders in a small way...

School Projects!
It's been a while since I have posted any school projects.
Included in the picture is a bird's nest (in the bowl), paintings, an Easter egg, a tooth (they learned about the dentist) and the letter project that cracks me up: L is for lentils!

Tricycle Time!
Gavin played at his cousin Josh's house the other day and they had a tricycle that they didn't use anymore. Gavin LOVED it and they decided to give it to him. Thanks Nathan and Josh!!!

Butterflies and Flowers
A friend of mine had done some cleaning out and gave me this kit to make butterflies and flowers. Philip, Gavin, and I made them one day when he was home.

He tried eating peas! Look at that face, it says, "What are you doing to me?" I think I made the peas too thick. The next time I thinned them out more and he ate them better. He wasn't a fan this first time.

Fly on the wall
While Philip was off of work, he watched Colin while I went to observe at preschool. I was behind a window and Gavin didn't even notice I was there.
He was working on a craft project when I first arrived.
He then went over to ask Mrs. Tami if he could play with the trains, what a big boy!
He also played a little bit with this car roads.
After being there 15-20 minutes, he was STILL playing with the trains. I can watch him do that at home! Aunt Staci says that he does branch out to other things now, but he wasn't even playing with a friend this time, so I left; I had other things to get done while he was at school. Maybe I'll be able to see him do something else another time.
